The Department of Home Affairs reviews your application. You may be contacted for additional information or clarification. Processing time varies but typically takes 4-8 weeks. Some applicants may be invited for an interview.

Common Pitfalls and Important Notes

Incomplete Documentation

Missing or poorly translated documents are the most common reason for visa rejection. Ensure all documents are certified, translated into English, and properly organized.

UK State Pension Freeze

Your UK State Pension will NOT increase annually in South Africa. Plan for inflation and ensure your total income exceeds the ZAR 37,000 minimum comfortably.

Timing Issues

Allow 6-9 months for the application process. Starting too late can delay your move and create unnecessary stress during the transition.
